Mocking Jay is the 3rd book in the novel series of the Hunger Games written by Suzanne Collins. After the hunger games, everything has changed. The Capitol has become more strict, everything in District 12 has been destroyed what led all the citizens to leave the District and move to an underground site in District 13 were life won't be as calm and easy but better than in the destroyed district. Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist in the three books, is worried about how her friend Peeta is doing since he was captured by the Capitol. After her return her feelings for Gale, her lover since the first book, has been confused by her arena lover Peeta. Members from different Districts form a group called the Rebels, that wanted to fight against the Capitol and the only district in favor of it, as mocking Jay, the head of this group, they had Katniss that in some point gets disappointed about how President Snow has changed Peetas personality and has turned him into a traitor and as an antagonist for the other Districts such as Snow. Will they be able to win the battle and make the new government a republic? What would happen when Katniss meets Peeta again?
In my opinion this was the least entertaining book of the three Suzanne Collins has published. I have known her books for the tension she creates in the reader but in this case this book didn't. The topic was boring and monotonous, in my opinion the language she used to write Mocking Jay wasn't as graphic and deep as I thought it would be. In the other hand I liked the fact that the book included lots of details that helped the reader project a image of how the setting and the new characters looked like. The idea of moving the story to another district was really interesting, because if you have read the other books, including the living style in this District that seemed to be destroyed long time ago was a very original idea. I also loved that Suzanne decided to change Peeta someway into an antagonist for Katniss and other district leaders. At the end everyone has an opinion about the book, but in my point of view the book wasn't as great as I thought it would be thou it has ideas that make the story more interesting.
I wouldn't recommend this book at all. If someone has read the other two books published in the series they would feel disappointed if they ever read Mocking Jay. Somehow it was also good to read the book to give a conclusion to the story, Even though it wasn't a good ending at all, if I could I would change the ending of the book. I will recommend the book to people who enjoy reading about war, having in mind this books also include violent scenes. In conclusion the book has its positive and negative things but it all depends in the type of person if it likes the book or not, but in my point of view this book leave me disappointed.
